The House


From the front terrace, with its peaceful rural views over the Niccone Valley, you enter the farmhouse into the large soggiorno, (kitchen/dining room) located in the oldest part of the house (about 14th century). 


This room contains a full kitchen, dining area, a wood-burning slow-combustion stove, and a walk-in pantry.

Also on this ground floor is the modern luxury bathroom, and the second small bedroom with twin beds.

Up the terracotta stairs from the soggiorno are the two main bedrooms and the large lounge.

The enormous master bedroom, with a Queen sized bed, is filled with light. This room has ample space for use also as a study, or just for peaceful reading in the heat of the day, and enjoys panoramic rustic views south and east over the forested hillsides and the agricultural valley below.

The lounge, or salotto, opens through French windows to a small patio at the top of the recently restored external stone stairs. The salotto contains comfortable sofas, an open fireplace, bookcases, a plasma TV with satellite channels, and a multi-region DVD player.

The second main bedroom (below), reached through the lounge above, is also a large room with a Queen-sized bed.

Sole occupancy and total privacy and quiet is assured.

The kitchen is well equipped and includes:

  • full stove with 4-burner gas cooktop and electric multi-function oven, and extractor hood
  • large fridge with separate freezer
  • (by 2012) dishwasher

  • coffee pots
  • front-loading washing machine (in separate laundry area in 2012)
  • walk-in pantry with stock food items
  • CD stereo with a small supply of both classical and popular CDs

  • SKY TV which includes all the main Italian channels, BBC World and the usual SKY suspects!
  • multi-region DVD player - so bring a few of your favourites if you wish
  • a selection of fiction and non-fiction books including many guides and maps to the local Provinces and towns
  • Guides to the extensive local walking trail network


The bathroom comprises:

  • three-quarter length bath

  • TASTIC (combined light, heat lamps, extractor fan)
