Activities

Things you can do during your stay at Casa Cattani include:

  • explorations around the farm: the woods, the terraced olives, the ravine with its delightful waterfall (at times), encounters with the local wildlife such as birds, badgers, deer, hedgehogs and, in early summer, myriads of fireflies at dusk;

  • reading, painting and generally just unwinding with a glass of the excellent local Tuscan and Umbrian wines;

  • relaxing
  • invesigating Perugia - the Umbrian capital: walking the narrow mediaeval streets or joining the smartly-dressed throng perambulating along the broad pedestrianised Corso Vanucci during passegiata;

  • explorations further afield to ancient narrow-street hilltop towns of Tuscany and Umbria;

  • excursions (train from Terontola, 20 mins drive, is recommended as parking is almost non-existent) further afield to Orveito, Rome and Florence;

  • or driving and walking into the Green heart of Umbria and the wilder parts of the Appennine Mountains;

  • soaking up sunshine, water and gelati at nearby Lake Trasimeno ( Italy’s second largest lake), or taking the ferry to its fascinating and historic islands;

  • helping bring in the olive harvest (November);

  • enjoying some of the many music and cultural festivals that take place in virtually every village and town throughout the summer months; or,

  • simply sampling the mouth-watering regional cuisine at local restaurante and trattoria, and visiting vineyards.
